This is an excellent box and is a spring box meaning that the bar that holds the pans in position is spring powered and stops any rattling of the paints. I think all boxes should be like this the spring bar is I believe a great idea. The box holds 8 pans which I believe is quite sufficient. The pans here are all ceramic and at least half have plenty of life left in them. The box dates from the 19th C and is extremely sound, it opens and closes fine. There is paint loss to the outer but inside it is quite good. Obviously there will be some wear showing after all the years. It is a great box. Approx 14.5 x 5 x 2.5 cm.
