This is a rather fine watercolour box by the makers George Rowney and I think it dates to the 1850′s. It is in very good used condition and is solid. It has a working lock with a key and the hinges are good. The pin that locks the lower drawer may be a replacement. The original Rowney paint blocks are not present, but here is a full set of genuine Victorian paints present. These are by and unknown maker. The lower drawer contains a genuine porcelain palette by Winsor & Newton. The box is made from Mahogany and is good and solid but does have surface marks and scratches from its very long life.
