SUPERB antique ROWNEY & Co. Watercolour Artists work/paint box. Hi and welcome to my listing for this old antique G. Water colour paint box and contents circa early 1900′s (perhaps earlier) a school or students set. The box itself is wood and measures about 13.75 inches (35 cm) X 9.75 inches (25 cm) and is almost 2.25 inches (6 cm) deep. It is pretty robust and solid the and hinges work. The box has a wonderful colour (wood with black over paint) and patina displaying loads of character and having its original inside label really sets the piece apart. The paint box comes with a lift out tray and its contents as shown seems to be a bit of a mish mash of makers but all of the seem period for example WINSOR & NEWTON artists varnish and turpentine, some oil paints and boxed charcoals. REEVES pastels (with some original contents) and watercolour paint box along with a REEVES pallet…….. There are 7 brushes all with pine handles all numbered and seemingly from the same set. SUPERB antique REEVES watercolour work/paint box. Plus Artists sketch book. Hi and welcome to my listing for this old antique, original condition, REEVES water colour paint box and Artists sketch book circa 1920′s/30′s (perhaps earlier) a school or students set. The box itself is wood and measures about 7 inches (18 cm) X 6 inches (15 cm) and is almost 1.5 inches (4 cm) deep. It is pretty robust and solid the catch and hinges work. It is has a wonderful colour and patina displaying loads of character and having its original inside label really sets the piece apart. The paint box comes with a lift out tray and its contents as shown as well as the Artists sketch book which is pretty interesting in its own right containing pencil as well as ink drawings/sketches. Hopefully an interesting little set for a collector – worthy of further research a nice example. The box itself is wood and measures about 9 inches (23 cm) X 4.25 inches (11 cm) and is almost 1.75 inches (4.5 cm) deep. It is pretty robust and solid the and hinges work. (It looks as though the previous owner has tidied up the edge and inside of the lid kind of framing the label in card so some element of restoration has been carried out but never the less a great looking piece). The paint box comes with a lift out tray and its contents as shown as well as the Artists sketch book which is pretty basic mainly pencil sketches but a couple of nice pastel sketches – quite a few pages unused. Hopefully an interesting little set for a collector – worthy of further research a nice example. A lift out tray of watercolour paint tablets, 20 original Reeves, some unused. A lift out tray of four ceramic mixing pallets. A lidded compartment for pens, with a REEVES label inside. Two named REEVES glass jars. And A sliding lower drawer, which locks shut with a brass pin. This lovely antique artists box is in very good, antique condition with light wear consistent with its age, but no major damage, repairs, or woodworm. It is a fine example of its type.
