Used Refurbished Craig Young Watercolor Paint box Red. This is a very old model of the Fletcher Watson style paintbox handmade by Craig Young. 8.5 by 5.5 by 1 closed. It’s a very large watercolor box as the website says, “best suited for those who sit to paint”. It is categorized as used. It has been very well used and loved so it has some dings, chips, repair spots and scratches. When I got the box it had a crushed corner that I repaired and then resprayed the box this red. This box has a beautiful clever design element where you can removed the center tray and then the little flaps open allowing you to remove the individual full pans which are also hand made out of brass. This amazing and highly collectable paintbox [numbered 1013] is fabricated entirely from high-quality brass including the hinges and the pins. The outside is in Glossy black enamel and the inside is enameled in white. This rare find has four deep mixing wells, two flat mixing surfaces, and sixteen pans on a separate removable tray. It measures 5.5 on x 3.75 in x 1 in when folded. The item is in excellent condition and has been cleaned but it shows slight staining due to use. Some on the enamel had chipped as indicated in the photographs, however, it adds character to this amazing piece of art. I ordered it in 2010 and waited two years to receive it from the UK. The Paintbox By Craig Young.. Hand made Brass Watercolor Paintbox. It’s the same style as the Roberson box. Condition is Excellent (I never used it). The color is Cobalt Blue. I bought this a few years ago and received it from Craig a year and a half later (August of 2018). They take 18 months to get and they come from England where Craig has his shop. I never put paint in it or used it… I was waiting until I was worthy to use it and that hasnt happened AND I’m moving and could use the funds.. It has the thumb ring on the bottom. In the one photo it appears the side tray sticks up just barely in the closed position (because it does) It’s not from damage it’s just a result of being handmade. I purposely put that photo in so you could see it. And there tiny paint wear on the hinges and where the box naturally touches itself from opening and closing the box. This is one of the earlier Palette Boxes, No. Craig’s description is. The box has three dished wells in the lid and a further three mixing areas in a removable tray. There are 12 divisions for tube colour or solid pans and a further four divisions for tube colour adjacent to the thumb hole. This box is suitable for hand holding. Measures 9.5 by 4 by 1 deep and weighs approx 14ozs. The box is finished in dark green. There is some staining from use but is in overall excellent condition. It does have an issue in its fabrication. Six of the twelve wells are too narrow to accept a standard plastic full pan. This was not a problen for me since I made my own pans from tube colors. I cut down pans as needed to fit the narrow slots. These are visible in the photos and will be included with the palette as will six regular pans. This is something I have cherished but not used for some time as I also have a sixteen well Roberson-style palette by Craig. LAST CHANCE, will not be relisted.
