For sale is an original vintage (presumably early 20thC / WWI era) travelling artists finger ring box, containing an integrated paint box and palette, artists paint board / paper holder and water vessel. Ive never seen another one like it. It is a good quality item, and was made by C Roberson & Son, as seen on the internal makers plate. The main body measures at approx 5×4 / 13x10cm. This item is in well used vintage condition. There is rust, paint flaking and the usual small dings, dents and scratches and some oxidisation in places, as you might expect of an item of this age and purpose. It looks as though one of the three rings / tabs has broken off as shown. Ive been told that there may have been a cap of some sort to decant water into, if so then that appears to be missing. WONDERFUL vintage Winsor and Newton portable Travelling Artist’s patented pochade/paint box. Hi and welcome to my listing for this rare vintage free standing WINSOR and NEWTON portable all in one combination of a free standing paint box with integral easel – beautifully made. The box closed up measures about 46 cm X 40 cm X 14.5 cm and then, as can be seen in the photographs, it opens out into a stand/working platform with adjustable legs and revealing the paint box inside the top section and an integral easel. It is a substantial, well made dovetailed pochade obviously for professional use. It’s in very good original, untouched condition and although it has nicks and scratches and paint splashes, the metal hinges and bright work are a little pitted. The leather handle, although solid and robust and perfectly usable, has parted so would want gluing back together, it has been well looked after and the patina and character it oozes are just superb. A great opportunity to own a RARE professional artists patented pochade/paint box from a well respect company. NOTE – the Artists pallet is also included which is interesting in itself when i bought the item i was told that it had at one time belonged to Middlesbrough Artist GLYNN PORTEOUS who sadly passed away in 2003 obviously i have no provenance to that claim but perhaps the new owner may like to research the piece further. Antique Lechertier Barbe Artists Travelling Easel Paint Box This easel is in fantastic clean solid complete condition, no damage to wood and all the nicely engineered mechanisms in full working order. I do not know age of the easel but I know it is before 1950 as the company ceased trading then I would hazard a guess that due to the bottles and other items which the box contained that it may be quite a bit older than this although I can not state the age categorically The height when erected is adjustable by the legs – when boxed away it is 54 by 38 cm.
