Pencils are brand new in the box, still in the celophane wrapping, but the easel box shows shelf wear and surface imperfections. Look at pics for details. These pencils were made sometime between 1973 and 1994 which was the Faber Castell chapter of the Spectracolor Pencils. They were discontinued and replaced with Prismacolor after the company was bought by Berol. Certain artists will know that these arent just any colored pencils. They are regarded amongst the best and people covet them, use them sparingly, and maybe only for their most important work. Spectracolors were considered the best for reasons including theyre strong and thick diameter, they were soft and smooth, they needed fewer sharpening making them longer lasting, they were waterproof and non fading.
