WONDERFUL vintage Winsor and Newton portable Travelling Artist’s patented pochade/paint box. Hi and welcome to my listing for this rare vintage free standing WINSOR and NEWTON portable all in one combination of a free standing paint box with integral easel – beautifully made. The box closed up measures about 46 cm X 40 cm X 14.5 cm and then, as can be seen in the photographs, it opens out into a stand/working platform with adjustable legs and revealing the paint box inside the top section and an integral easel. It is a substantial, well made dovetailed pochade obviously for professional use. It’s in very good original, untouched condition and although it has nicks and scratches and paint splashes, the metal hinges and bright work are a little pitted. The leather handle, although solid and robust and perfectly usable, has parted so would want gluing back together, it has been well looked after and the patina and character it oozes are just superb. A great opportunity to own a RARE professional artists patented pochade/paint box from a well respect company. NOTE – the Artists pallet is also included which is interesting in itself when i bought the item i was told that it had at one time belonged to Middlesbrough Artist GLYNN PORTEOUS who sadly passed away in 2003 obviously i have no provenance to that claim but perhaps the new owner may like to research the piece further.
