Wonderful original artist’s paint box by Rowney & Co. London dating from between 1820 and 1859 when the company was based at Rathbone Place. The box is as good as new all joints tight and strong with the original label and paint tablets. Measures 24 x 18.5 x 8.5 CMS. Includes original lock and working key. The full inventory is as follows. Paint tray with original colours. Two mixing dishes by Alfred Meakin of London. 3 smudging sticks, Chinese ink stick, 2 paint tubes, pencil, wooden stencil, antique key and spare (reproduction) key.
