Antique 19th Century Watercolor Set of 30 Dried Pan Colors in Hinged Wooden Box. Superior – School Colors – Warranted Soft and Brilliant is inscribed on the inside of the lid along with a hand written date of Aug. I was able to test and determine that the dried pans are still soluble, though this is more conversation piece than practicing artists watercolor set. The lift out tray contains a total of 30 unique colors with no accompanying description – most pans have the majority of their original contents remaining. A few of the nearly unused pans of color still have a raised shield with crest stamp that can be seen in the photos. The wooden case measuring 6-1/2″ x 11″, and four small ceramic mixing dishes are in good condition, though one of the case hinges is loose. A pair of what appear to be either vintage or antique pencils found with the case are included in this sale, one inscrib ed Superfine Red & Blue and the other inscribed Eagle Pencil Company 342 Progress #2.
