A vintage Winsor & Newton black Japanned watercolour paint box. It is a No: 1 College box and it has its original card box and tissue paper. Neat’bijou’ size, when closed the box measures approximately 11.5cm x 6.5cm x 2cm. Opened it measures 19.3cm x 11.5cm x 2cm. On the fold out flap it has a metal label – Winsor & Newton -’College’ Box – Madein England. It has 12 ceramic pans; not all are W&N, some have been replaced with Reeves pans. There is one extra pan which sits in the paintbrush well. All the ceramic pans are in good condition no cracks or chips. The box has a thumb loop and metal clasp; clasp and hinges work well. Overall it is in good condition with wear in keeping with age and use. Unusual to find a W&N painting box with original box and packaging! The card packaging box has the original labels.
