Antique Pastels Girault, 29 Colors in Original Wooden Box, Very Good Condition. This listing is for an antique set of 29 Pastels Girault in the original wooden box. The simple, hand-made, wood box measures approximately 5 ½” x 5″ x 1 and is in very good condition with no significant damage. There are plenty of marks on the box, inside and out, mostly in pencil. Most of the graphics have faded and been lost over time. On the front of the box “Made in France” can be read and the faded oval inside the lid can be recognized. The metal corner hinges are nice and they work well. The lid is cut slightly smaller than the box making for a tight clasp but it works! One of the original nails has split an inside divider but it remains tight. Inside of the 100+ year-old box are 29 pastels wrapped in paper. The majority are whole, but several are broken with most of the pieces in the box. The original cloth padding holding the pastels is still in use. Truly an exceptional find!
