Antique Winsor & Newton “Lexington” model sketch box with artist pallet and tin mixing tray. Some old paint tubes, pencils, etc. That came with the box are included. The paints are for display as they are mostly dried and no longer usable. The box was used heavily by the original owner and has dried paint in the mixing tray. This is a larger box designed for oil and other mediums. The case measures 17.75″ by 13.5″ by 4. The box locks and comes with the original skeleton key. Nice mechanics in the lid. The edge of the lid is hinged to allow you to slide sketch canvases into the lid. Incredibly rare antique box. We found a 1924 newspaper ad so it is an early 1920 box. The paints are also early 1900 era. It has some condition issues but overall is in great shape for the amount of use it saw. Nice Winsor & Newton name plate secured with brass nails. The “Lexington” model is stamped into the wood along with the patent number.
