This is a wonderfully rare item and was used for carrying watercolour painting equipment on those lovely trips under a warm English sun. In fairness it could easily be used to carry oil painting equipment too. It was probably made during the 1890s and I know it saw service with a another item in my listings during the 1920s carrying watercolour equipment. It was made by the justly famous firm of Charles Roberson and has survived very well. It does have a few mildew type stains but Im sure these would clean away. Structurally it is very good and could be used right away. The strap appears to be very strong. There cannot be many of these out there anymore and this I would say is excellent. There is room inside for everything that you would need whilst painting outdoors. Approx 38 x 28 cm. Any questions feel free to ask and thank you for looking.
